Hiking will lift your spirits, connect you with nature, and provide an excellent total-body workout. To get started on this nature-centric workout, be sure you have proper walking or hiking shoes, a small pack for water, snacks, a map, and a hiking partner to share the fun. Set your course ahead of time so you can plan how long you'll be hiking, and don't overexert yourself—the various terrains and geography of a hiking trail compose a different experience than regular walking.
